About the Presenter:
Ofer Jacobowitz, MD, PhD, FAASM is an internationally recognized expert in obstructive sleep apnea and rhinology. He is the co-director of sleep at ENT and Allergy Associates, LLP, the largest ENT group in the USA and is an associate professor at Northwell/Hofstra University. He has been a researcher in implantable hypoglossal neurostimulation for over a decade. He conducts research on the treatment of sleep apnea and nasal obstruction, and he consults for new medical technologies. He is a co-director of a sleep surgery international mini-fellowship program.
Dr. Jacobowitz is a fellow and chair of the Sleep Disorders Committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. He is a member of the governing council, chair of the sleep-disordered breathing guidelines committee and former secretary of the World Sleep Society’s governing council. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and past chair of the sleep-related breathing disorders section.
He chaired the 2019 International Surgical Sleep Society’s meeting in New York and regularly presents in academic venues around the world. He has authored many peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and is the chief editor for the textbook “Sleep Apnea and Snoring”.
Dr. Jacobowitz holds an SB in Biology from MIT and earned his MD and PhD through the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
